Collaboration between the Select Board and Town Government for sustainable development by bringing stakeholders to the table to create favorable balanced policies for our residents and our small business community. We can do this by:
- Striving to find a balance for our growing town.
- Working with our state and federal legislators to provide proper funding for our town's needs.
- Working together as a Board to understand and plan for what our schools and community needs are, while trying to limit/avoid future overrides,
- No further raising of our residential/commercial tax rate until 95% of our downtown spaces are fully leased.
- Developing public/private partnerships to benefit the town through cost savings. For example, lease the Zanni/Symonds Way property to a private company that will build an indoor/outdoor recreation space and allow the town to use the space for blocks of time at no charge.
Fostering smart economic development for a balanced community. He believes we need to make Reading a destination. How do we do that?
- Market the town by highlighting and bringing more community and collaborative events to our downtown, such as a Farmer’s Market, Summer Art & Cultural Stroll, Spring Fling Festival and a permanent Merry-Go-Round or like attraction on the town common to make Reading a destination for families from other communities.
- We need more community committees to collaborate (such as Walkable Reading and the Historical Committee creating a walk highlighting the historic markers on the downtown sidewalks.)
Supporting our police, fire and first responders by ensuring they have the most up to date equipment and training
Supporting and advocating for our vulnerable residents.
- Consider expanding our Senior Circuit Tax Break relief.
- Identifying a space for a new senior/community center that will benefit all residents.
