Carlo has been a long-time volunteer in Reading and in the North Shore area of Massachusetts. Most recently, he has been a Business Mentor with EforALL in Lynn for the past three years. Carlo believes that making a difference and raising people up is the responsibility of the entire community. Carlo has had great experiences sharing his knowledge and expertise with young people as well as helping people of all ages realize the dream of owning their own business.
Five years ago, Carlo became involved with the NorthShore Education Consortium's SOAR Program based out of Salem State University. This program focuses on young adults with autism and special needs and places them into companies to work as volunteers or paid interns. These college-aged individuals are able to gain skills to go out into the workforce, and allows them to take college classes.
Three years ago, Carlo became a Reading Town Meeting member as well as a Select Board member. He states, "It was time to step off the sidelines and give back to the town that has welcomed us as a family. Listening and meeting my fellow residents and business owners, has helped me better understand what is needed to help guide the town forward as we change and grow."
Carlo is an experienced business owner with experiences in all aspects of management and small business, including purchasing a business, starting a business from scratch, running a business, and selling a business.
Currently, he owns a chocolate manufacturing company in Swampscott that supplies product throughout the country. He has the experience that the Select Board needs as the town moves to revitalize its downtown area. He believes that the town needs to fully understand the reason behind the empty storefronts in Reading, and his knowledge of the local area and small business will continue to bring a new perspective to the Select Board.
Carlo is a graduate of Medford High School and Northeastern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management, with a dual concentration in Management and Entrepreneurship. For more information click here.
